San Diego State Sinks Women's Lacrosse, 14-8

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Opening its two-game California road swing, a hat trick from Mickenzie Larivee was not enough as the Boston University women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-8 setback to San Diego State Sunday afternoon at Aztec Lacrosse Field.

TURNING POINT
- With 24:17 remaining in the second half, Avery Donahoe delivered BU's second equalizer of the game to put the score at 7-7, but San Diego State reeled off a 6-0 over the next 10 minutes to put the game out of reach.
- San Diego State staked an early 2-0 advantage until Elisabeth Jayne scored off a feed from Taylor Hardison in transition to put the Terriers on the board with 24:52 left in the first.
- The Aztecs responded fifteen seconds later, though Kelly Mathews found the back of the net on a free position shot to make it a one-goal game again with 11:53 left in the opening stanza.
- Lexi Lewis netted her first career goal, bursting between two defenders and slotting it past the keeper with 8:37 left in the first and Mickenzie Larivee tied the game up at 4-4 just over a minute later.
- With the Aztecs holding a two-goal advantage again, Donahoe worked her way from the behind the net and beat the kepper with 51 seconds left in the half, but San Diego State would score with two seconds remaining to hold the score at 7-5 heading into the break.
- Larivee pounded in the opening goal of the second half from just outside the crease and Donahoe followed by striking with 24:17 remaining to knot the score at 7-7.
- San Diego State scored six unanswered until Larivee broke the streak at the 11:28 mark, but the Aztecs reclaimed their six-goal advantage and the score held the remaining eight minutes.
- Larivee tallied her eight career hat trick.
- Matthews and Hardison extended their point streak to 12 and 10 games, respectively.
- Donahoe notched her third multi-goal game of the season, tying Jayne for the team lead.
- San Diego tallied eight free-position scores, converting on 20 attempts.
- The Terriers will reaming in California as they head to Los Angeles to take on No. 3/3 USC on Wednesday, March 8 at 5 p.m. EST.
