
Heinen Named Patriot League Player of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After catching a pair of shutouts and batting .538 over four games, Boston University softball junior Alex Heinen has earned Patriot League Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The award marks the first career weekly honor for the two-time All-PL second team member and the 10th overall of the season for the Terriers with freshman Ali DuBois, freshman Cali Dolfi, senior Jilee Schanda, senior Emma Wong and junior Madi Killebrew all previously being recognized.
Heinen went 7-of-13 with five RBIs, two triples, two runs scored, a stolen base and double while posting a .923 slugging percentage, as BU went 3-1 for the week with a 7-0 win over Providence and pair of victories against Bucknell (8-4, 1-0). She started by hitting 3-of-3 with an RBI double and RBI triple against the Friars and then opened the Bison series with another RBI triple.
Behind the plate, she worked with sophomore Lizzie Annerino in shutting out the Friars and then DuBois in limiting Bucknell the to just two hits in the game-two win.
Currently sitting atop the PL standings at 12-3, the Terriers will next end the regular season at Colgate on May 5-6. They just need one win over the Raiders to clinch hosting rights for the conference tournament and then two wins to claim the regular season title outright.
