Terriers Control Colgate in 6-1 Road Win

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Boston University field hockey team got goals from six players to roll past Colgate by a score of 6-1 on Friday afternoon at Tyler's Field.
Freshmen Jodie Conolly and Ellie McIntyre each recorded a goal and an assist while sophomores Rebecca Janes and Casey Thompson tallied their first goals of the season. Juniors Maggie New and Liz Ryan each found of the back of the cage in the opening half to help the Terriers improve to 4-7 on the year and 1-2 in Patriot League play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers scored once in each of the first two quarters to take a 2-0 lead into the half.
- New opened the scoring in the 12th minute, pushing in a rebound in front of the goal following a corner shot by senior Kiley Gallagher.
- The visitors' lead was doubled at 20:10 when a blast by McIntyre was tipped in by Ryan from the middle of the circle.
- BU pushed its cushion to 4-0 with goals less than two minutes apart in the third quarter.
- McIntyre created offense in the circle once again, taking a pass from Conolly before spinning around and firing a shot to the boards from eight yards out at 36:05.
- Moments later, Thompson corralled a deflected shot on the right side before roofing a shot past Colgate netminder Anna Unger in the 38th minute.
- The home team spoiled the shutout bid at 54:16 on a elevated shot by Blair Boyles to cut the BU lead to 4-1.
- The Terriers closed the contest by once again scoring back-to-back goals within moments of one another.
- Conolly used a drag flick off a corner to record her fourth goal of the season at 56:26.
- A perfectly executed corner closed out the scoring as Janes inserted the ball before redirecting a pass from Gallagher at the left post at 57:44.
GAME NOTES
- The Terriers recorded the first 19 shots of the contest and ended up with 21 while allowing only three.
- BU did not give up a shot or a corner until the final seven minutes of regulation.
- The Terriers earned six corners while allowing only one.
- Freshman Rachel Borzymowski earned the first defensive save of her collegiate career.
- Unger made six saves and allowed four goals before being replaced by Emma Goldberg, who made two saves on four BU shots in the final 18:41.
- Senior Livy Golini made her second straight start in goal for BU and allowed the Colgate goal before freshman Caroline Kelly played the final 3:32.
- Golini earned her first win as a Terrier.
- Juniors Ailsa Connolly and Paige Mautner picked up assists on Conolly's corner goal.

- The Terriers will start a three-game homestand on Sunday when they take on crosstown rival Boston College.
