DuBois Repeats as Patriot League Pitcher of the Week
February 18, 2020 | Softball
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After claiming three wins and a save while posting a 0.00 ERA, Boston University softball junior Ali DuBois has repeated as the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Torrington, Connecticut, native is tied for first in the nation with six wins following another impressive weekend that saw her post 30 strikeouts in 21.2 combined innings of work. The pitching award marks the seventh overall for the 2020 USA Softball College Player of the Year Watch List member who also has four 2018 PL Rookie of the Week honors for 11 total weekly awards, the most by a Terrier since BU Hall of Famer Audrey West ('96) claimed 13.
DuBois (6-1, 2 SV) opened the Winthrop tournament with 11 strikeouts for the 6-0 victory over Georgetown. She followed up with a pair of strikeouts to preserve a 5-4 victory over Towson and then limited three-time defending Southern Conference regular season champion UNC Greensboro to just one hit in the 8-0 run-rule victory.
In the final contest, Virginia managed just three hits, as DuBois led BU to its sixth shutout of the season with six strikeouts. She was in position to claim a second save, but a passed ball on what should have been the final out gave Eastern Kentucky extra life.
BU's 9-1 start is the program's best since 1995. The Terriers will next head to No. 23 Arkansas for the Razorback Invitational on Feb. 20-22. The two schools will open the regular season tournament on Thursday (Feb. 20) with a 5:30 p.m. ET start.
