DuBois Three-Peats as Patriot League Pitcher of the Week
February 25, 2020 | Softball
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After claiming a complete-game victory and save at the Razorback Invitational while also tossing four no-hit innings against No. 21/23 Arkansas, Boston University softball junior Ali DuBois has earned her third straight Patriot League Pitcher of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
The honor marks the eighth overall for the Torrington, Connecticut, native, who just needs one more to tie BU Hall of Famer Robyn King ('01) and Cassidi Hardy ('10) for second place in the BU record book. The announcement also represents the sixth time in Patriot League history that a pitcher has won the award in three consecutive weeks with Lehigh's Christine Campbell the last to accomplish the feat in 2016.
In her first appearance on Thursday in a 4-1 loss against the Razorbacks, DuBois pitched 5.2 scoreless innings to outlast Arkansas' All-American Autumn Storms, who gave up a run in 5.1 innings before being relieved. She finished the contest with seven strikeouts against four hits and three earned runs allowed.
In the second contest against Montana, DuBois posted nine strikeouts for the 3-2 victory, as she claimed sole possession of third place in the BU record book at 58 wins. She followed up with three more strikeouts in a 1.1-inning save to help the Terriers shut out Marist, 2-0.
With 21 strikeouts at the Razorback Invitational, DuBois now ranks fifth all-time at BU and ninth in the PL at 466 strikeouts.
The Terriers have the upcoming weekend off and will next compete in the UCLA Invitational on March 6-8.
