March 10, 2020 | Softball
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After pitching 21.1 innings without allowing a single earned run, Boston University softball junior Ali DuBois has been named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
The Torrington, Connecticut, native has now claimed four straight honors when eligible (had a bye week for March 3) and nine overall. She finished with 17 strikeouts against six walks and held opposing batters to .137 while collecting a pair of wins.
DuBois started off by limiting Cal Poly to six hits in a 5-2 victory and then earned a big strikeout in relief to keep the deficit at 2-1 against No. 16 Michigan entering the top of the seventh. On the second day of the UCLA Invitational, she tallied nine strikeouts against San Diego State while allowing just two hits and one unearned run in a 1-0 loss.
In the final contest, DuBois gave up just two hits for the second consecutive complete-game effort in a 3-0 win against Cal Poly. She now ranks third in the BU career record book and tied-for-seventh in the Patriot League at 60 wins. She also ranks fifth and eighth, respectively, for strikeouts at 488.
The Terriers will next open the Easton Invitational on Thursday (March 12) with a doubleheader against Long Beach State (8 p.m. ET) and the host Titans (10 p.m. ET).
