TERRIER TIDBITS
- Saturday will be the first time in 581 days that BU plays at Agganis Arena. The Terriers last hosted a game there on March 7, 2020, against Northeastern.
- The Terriers earned a 5-1 exhibition win over Holy Cross on Oct. 2 at Walter Brown Arena.
- Five different Terriers - Tyler Boucher, Ty Gallagher, Robert Mastrosimone, Case McCarthy and Sam Stevens - all lit the lamp, with Stevens adding an assist for a two-point night.
- Eighteen of the Terriers' 30 players this season are upperclassmen.
- Eleven of the Terriers' top 12 point producers from a season ago are back, including leading goal scorer Jay O'Brien, who tied for the team lead with 16 points on eight goals and eight assists.
- All three goaltenders - junior Ashton Abel, sophomore Drew Commesso and sophomore Vinny Duplessis - played at least two games in the 2020-21 campaign.
- BU returns 24 letter winners from last year's squad, with junior transfer Matt Brown joining five freshmen as newcomers.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- UConn opened its regular season this past Saturday with a 6-3 home win over Sacred Heart
- Junior Vladislav Firstov scored twice for the Huskies in the win, while graduate student Darion Hanson, a transfer from Union, stopped 31 shots and also had an assist in his UConn debut in net.
- Sophomore Ryan Tverberg tallied a team-high three points thanks to a goal and two assists.
- Seniors Marc Gatcomb, Jáchym Kondelík and Kevin O'Neil all lit the lamp while classmates Jonny Evans and Ryan Wheeler each had one assist.
- Sophomores John Spetz and Hudson Schandor also had one helper each.
- The Terriers and Huskies have had 17 prior meetings and BU is 10-6-2 (.611) in them.
- That includes a 3-2 overtime victory last year at Freitas Ice Forum on UConn's campus in Storrs, the first time BU had traveled to UConn but not played at XL Center.
- UConn has won three of the past five contests against the Terriers, including a sweep of the season series in 2019-20.
- After splitting their league series in three straight seasons (2015-16 to 2017-18) the Terriers took the 2018-19 series with a 2-1-0 record.
- BU improved to 2-3-2 in seven overtime meetings with UConn after last year's win.
- Saturday's game at Agganis will begin a three-game homestand for the Terriers, as they'll welcome Sacred Heart to Boston on Oct. 15 and 16.
- Puck drop for Friday is set for 7:30 p.m., with Saturday's showdown set for 7 p.m.
