McCarthy Named Hockey East Defender of the Week

AMESBURY, Mass. - Junior Case McCarthy of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Defender of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
McCarthy was terrific in the Terriers' weekend sweep of New Hampshire. He assisted on Logan Cockerill's game-winning goal in Friday night's 3-1 home win before providing the helper on both BU markers in the Terriers' 2-1 overtime victory at Whittemore Center. McCarthy notched the lone assist on the overtime winner, as he won a battle for the puck along the left half-wall, skated to the faceoff circle and found Max Kaufman all alone in front of the net for the finish.
The reigning Hockey East Defender of the Month led the Terriers with nine shots on goal over the weekend while also blocking two shots. He enters this Friday's contest against Boston College on a three-game point streak. For the season, McCarthy has tallied five goals and added six assists for 11 points.
BU will host Boston College in the Battle of Comm. Ave. this Friday at Agganis Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets by clicking here.
