Duplessis Named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week
February 21, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. - Sophomore Vinny Duplessis of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Duplessis helped BU win its 31st Beanpot title with an impressive 19-save performance against then-No. 13 Northeastern. He made a terrific pad stop early in the game on a high-quality chance to ensure the Huskies did not take the lead. Duplessis saved his best for last, however, as he made four saves following the Terriers' late goal to preserve the shutout.
A native of Quebec City, Quebec, Duplessis has been named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week twice in the last three weeks. He also earned the honor on Feb. 7 after he posted a 27-save shutout against Maine on Feb. 4. Duplessis is 4-0-0 in February and 5-0-0 over his last five starts dating back to Dec. 31. He has allowed just five goals in those five starts, posting an impressive .954 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average in that span.
Last season, Duplessis earned Rookie of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week accolades en route to being named the league's Goaltender of the Month for February 2021.
BU will return to action on Friday, Feb. 25, when the Terriers trek to Chestnut Hill to begin a home-and-home series with Boston College.
