TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU extended its win streak to five games with a 4-3 victory over Havrard in the opening round of the 69th Men's Beanpot on Monday at TD Garden.
- The Terriers improved to 11-1-1 in its last 13 games with the victory.
- BU has averaged 3.92 goals per game in that stretch while allowing just 1.62 goals per game.
- Junior Jay O'Brien had a goal and an assist while senior Logan Cockerill and juniors Matt Brown and Ethan Phillips each found of the back of the net.
- Sophomore Vinny Duplessis made 22 saves in his Beanpot debut to win his second start in four days.
- Juniors Domenick Fensore and Wilmer Skoog each posted a pair of assists while , freshman Ty Gallagher and junior Case McCarthy each had one assist apiece.
- Skoog (9g, 11a) and assist leader Fensore (4g, 18a) lead BU with 22 points apiece.
- Junior Robert Mastrosimone became the first Terrier to reach double figures in goals, notching his team-best 10th and 11th markers of the season on Feb. 4 at Maine.
- He is third on the Terriers with 21 points.
- Brown enters Friday on a eight-game point streak, having tallied five goals and five assists for 10 points during that stretch.
- Brown has notched a point in 10 of his last 11 games.
DIDN'T TAKE LONG TO MEET AGAIN
- BU and Providence faced off at Agganis Arena on Jan. 30, with the Terriers earning a 5-2 win.
- Junior Wilmer Skoog scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, while classmates Ethan Phillips, Domenick Fensore and Jay O'Brien also lit the lamp.
- The Terriers never trailed the Friars thanks to first-period goals by Skoog and Phillips.
- Skoog and Fensore scored in a span of 1:09 to push the Terriers' lead to 4-1 at 6:51 of the third period before O'Brien added an empty-netter to seal the victory and complete a two-point day.
- Freshman Tristan Amonte added an assist, providing the primary helper on Skoog's first goal.
- Sophomore goaltender Drew Commesso made 36 stops, including 27 over the final 40 minutes, in his final game before he joined the U.S. Olympic Team.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers and Friars first met in the 1926-27 season and have played 190 times since that encounter. BU leads the series, 112-59-19 (.639).
- BU is 17-8-6 against Providence in their past 31 meetings, including a 6-4-6 record over the last 16 contests.
- That includes a split of last season's series, with Providence earning a 7-3 win at Walter Brown Arena on Jan. 8, 2021, and the Terriers defeating the Friars, 6-4, at Schneider Arena the next night.
- BU is 36-31-8 (.533) against Providence at Schneider Arena, including a 6-4 win on Jan. 9, 2021.
