BOSTON – For the first time in the 2022 campaign, the Boston University women's lacrosse team faces a Patriot League foe on the road, as BU heads to No. 7 Loyola Maryland this Saturday (Mar. 26). Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
The Terriers will face their third opponent that was ranked in the IWLCA/ILWomen National Preseason Poll this year, after having played Boston College and UMass. Loyola will be BU's fourth adversary that made an appearance in last season's NCAA Tournament, including the two aforementioned teams in addition to Fairfield.
The Greyhounds take part in their Patriot League home opener after opening their league slate on the road last weekend. Saturday will be Loyola's third home affair in its last four contests. Four of the Greyhounds' five following games will be away from Baltimore.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- In its last game, The Terriers dropped a 13-7 home contest to Colgate on Saturday (Mar. 19).
- BU caused a season-high 14 turnovers out of the Raiders' 22, and scooped up 24 ground balls, but Colgate allowed just one Terrier goal in the second and third quarters combined to put the game out of reach.
- Freshman Matty Spaeth led BU in scoring for the second-straight game with three goals, while sophomore Kendall Sims added two.
- Sophomore Ellen Monahan netted her first collegiate goal, and junior Jennifer Barry added a score with 10 draw controls.
- Senior Kennady Smith and sophomore Reilly Agres made nine combined saves between the pipes.
- At 85 draw controls on the season, Barry is six away from matching the single-season program record in draw controls, set by Jill Horka (91) in 2016.
- Currently fifth all-time with 168 career draw controls, she is 14 away from her head coach, Lauren Morton, for fourth place, and 15 from Kaitlin Belval in third place.
- In her last four games, Spaeth has 10 goals and 12 points. Her seven goals in BU's two Patriot League matchups are the second-most by a PL student-athlete in league action.
- Graduate student Jenny Feeney set a career-high with five caused turnovers against the Raiders, and matched her season-best with four ground balls. She is already two ground balls away from a personal season-high, and four caused turnovers from her season record.
- Overall, senior Emma Pfaff leads the team with 10 caused turnovers, while Agres' 19 ground balls is a Terrier-high this year.
- BU leads the Patriot League with 16.25 draw controls per game, which is 16th in the nation. The Terriers' .588 draw control percentage is seventh among Division I teams.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- No. 7 Loyola Maryland enters the game with an 8-0 record, having beaten Lehigh in its lone PL contest.
- On Wednesday, the Greyhounds dispatched No. 10 Princeton 16-15, their third win over a ranked foe this season.
- Loyola is at its highest ranking of the year after starting the season ninth in the national poll.
- The Greyhounds' .636 free position percentage is best in the country, and the program is eighth in shot percentage (.492) and draw control percentage (.586).
- Preseason PL Attacker of the Year Livy Rosenzweig has a team-high 21 goals and 30 points, earning Preseason All-America and Tewaaraton Watch List recognition.
- Loyola was picked to finish first in the Preseason Poll after winning their fifth Patriot League title in 2021, reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday marks the 15th all-time meeting between BU & Loyola Maryland in a series that began in 2003.
- The Greyhounds have the 12-2 edge in the series, having won 10 in a row.
- BU has not beaten Loyola since joining the PL.
- The Terriers' two victories came in 2005 and 2007.
- In the last meeting on Mar. 31, 2019, Loyola triumphed 21-7. Only six Terriers who appeared in that game are still on the roster: Smith, Feeney, Riley Kokoruda, Maddie MacMaster, Kylie Cadogan, and Caroline Pinho.
