BOSTON – Riding an eight-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will visit Big East foe UConn on Wednesday with first pitch set for 2 p.m.

The teams were originally scheduled to face off at 4 p.m., but the game was moved up two hours due to the expected cold temperatures.

The Terriers are coming off a three-game run-rule sweep at Lafayette, while the Huskies most recently earned a home sweep against DePaul. Both BU and UConn own a win over a ranked SEC opponent this season with the Terriers upsetting then-No. 13 Georgia (6-1) in Athens, and the Huskies topping No. 11 Missouri, 6-2, in their season opener in Florida.

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU increased its Patriot League weekly awards haul to nine this season after senior Emily Gant was named Player of the Week and junior Lizzy Avery was tabbed Pitcher of the Week.
Gant batted .625 this past week to move up to No. 21 nationally at .457 while owning 25 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
Sophomore Kayla Roncin ranks fifth at 46 hits while batting .451. She is joined by Gant and junior Caitlin Coker (.279) in recording two homers apiece.
Sophomore Lauren Keleher (.361) leads BU with eight doubles, while senior Nicole Amodio (.301) owns a team-high six homers and 29 RBIs.
Avery went 4-0 this past week with a no-hit and one-hit shutout to move up to 9-8 on the season. With a 2.84 ERA and opposing batting average of .218, she has tallied 105 strikeouts in 101.0 innings.
Junior Allison Boaz (10-4, 1.88 ERA) has three saves and is holding opponents to .264.
Overall as a team, BU is batting .296 while keeping opponents at .254 and earning a 64-57 advantage in extra-base hits.

SCOUTING UCONN

The Huskies are 4-0 at home with back-to-back one-run victories over Army (5-4) and DePaul (7-6) followed by two wins against the Blue Demons by a combined score of 17-5.
Owner of two non-conference wins against Penn State (2-1, 7-1), UConn lost by one to North Carolina (8-7) and Wisconsin (4-3).
Briana Marcelino leads the Huskies at .365 with five homers and 15 RBIs, while both Reese Guevarra (.319) and Sami Barnett (.306) own three homers apiece with a combined 34 RBIs.
Meghan O'Neil (6-4, 3.25 ERA) has tallied 60 strikeouts in 69.0 innings, while Elise Sokolsky (9-3, 3.47 ERA) has earned 59 strikeouts in 68.2 innings.
Overall, UConn is batting .287 while holding opponents to .267 with opposing teams owning a slight 69-62 advantage in extra-base hits.
