ALLSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Tobey Tick tallied her second hat trick in her last three games, but the Boston University women's lacrosse program fell to Harvard 18-8 on Tuesday evening at Jordan Field.

The Terriers scored the game's first goal of the game 48 seconds after the opening draw, but the Crimson took control with nine straight goals over the next 14:50 to take control.

Junior Claire Gola registered a team-high four points on two goals and two assists, while classmate Jennifer Barry added a pair of second-half goals. Freshman Matty Spaeth recorded her team-leading 26th goal of the season.

Nine different Crimson student-athletes found the back of the net. Grace Hulslander notched three goals and a game-high 10 draw controls.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Tick opened the scoring by taking a pass from junior Lauren Kaye, who was at the top of the 12-meter fan, and beating Chloe Provenzano on the doorstep.
Gola halted the Harvard run at the 11:09 mark of the second quarter, finding the back of the net towards the right post.
BU scored its second goal in a row on Spaeth's burst to the net from the left side of the arc, pulling the Terriers within 9-3 with 6:30 until halftime.
Harvard potted two more goals before sophomore Kaelin Isaacson found Gola on a woman-up chance with 9.4 seconds to play in the first half, putting the halftime score at 11-4 Crimson.
BU was held off the scoreboard until the clock read 2:07 in the third quarter, when Isaacson linked up with Tick for the latter's second goal.
Barry was open in front of the right post, receiving the feed from Gola and scoring with 9:45 to play.
With 7:07 remaining, Tick secured the hat trick on a similar play as Barry's previous goal, cutting down the middle and depositing Gola's pass from the right hanging hash.
The Terriers capped their scoring with a free position goal from Barry with 1:23 left.

GAME NOTES

Harvard held the advantage in shots (31-19) and draw controls (18-10).
BU gained the edge in ground balls (15-14) and caused turnovers (6-4).
Tick increased her points streak to eight games, registering 15 points in that span.
Kaye's assist boosted her points streak to five games, with 18 points during that stretch.
Barry has scored a goal in each of her last five games.
The all-time series now stands at 15-11 in the Crimson's favor.
