Hutson Named Hockey East Player of the Week
October 9, 2023 | Men's Ice Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. - Sophomore Lane Hutson of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Hutson was the overtime hero for the Terriers in Saturday's season-opening win at Bentley, as his power-play strike 3:12 into the extra period gave BU a 3-2 victory. That goal capped an incredible effort for the First Team All-American, as he was on the ice for a majority of the third period and overtime. Hutson led the Terriers with seven shots on goal and also blocked a shot. Four of Hutson's six career game-winning goals have come in overtime, with all four being scored away from Agganis Arena.
This is the third time that Hutson has been tabbed as the league's Player of the Week and the ninth time that he has won a Hockey East weekly award. Last season, Hutson was Hockey East Rookie of the Year, a Hockey East First Team All-Star and runner-up for the league's Player of the Year award as a freshman.
BU will begin Hockey East play on Friday night when the Terriers trek to New Hampshire for a showdown with the Wildcats. Puck drop on NESN and ESPN+ is scheduled for 8 p.m.
