RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior captain Domenick Fensore of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes, the organization announced this past weekend. The deal will begin in the 2023-24 season.
Fensore was a four-year standout for the Terriers who captained the team to Hockey East regular-season and tournament titles as well as a trip to the Frozen Four during his final season on Comm. Ave. He was one of the best defensemen in the country in 2022-23 and was named a Hockey East First Team All-Star and a New England Divison I All-Star. He scored a career-high nine goals, including three game-winners, and added 22 assists to match last year's career high of 31 points. His nine goals was second among league blue liners while his 31 points ranked second among Hockey East defenders. He finished his collegiate career with two assists in the NCAA semifinals against No. 1 Minnesota.
A third-round draft pick of Carolina in 2019, Fensore skated in 122 career games as a Terrier, scoring 19 goals and recording 67 assists for 86 points. He was a plus-27 for his career, including a career-best plus-13 this past season. Fensore was twice named a Hockey East All-Star, twice selected as a New England All-Star and twice nominated for the Hobey Baker Award. In addition to leading BU to a pair of conference trophies this past season, Fensore also lifted the Beanpot in 2021.
