Carr Named Patriot League Goalkeeper And Rookie Of The Week

October 21, 2024

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University women's soccer freshman goalkeeper Bridget Carr has been selected as the Patriot League Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week for the week of Oct. 21, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

The two honors are the first in Carr's collegiate tenure. She becomes the second Terrier to earn Rookie of the Week honors in 2024, joining classmate Jaiden Schultz.  She is the first to capture Goalkeeper of the Week recognition since teammate Celia Braun did so on Oct. 10, 2022.

The Wyckoff, N.J. native posted the first two clean sheets of her career in a 2-0 week for BU, guiding the Terriers to the top of the Patriot League table. On Wednesday (Oct. 16), she corralled seven saves to power BU to a 3-0 road win over Holy Cross. She followed that up with three saves on Sunday (Oct. 20) as the Terrier defense shut out Bucknell 1-0, limiting the Bison to a season-low six shots.

In 10 appearances this season, Carr has made eight starts, compiling a 1.11 goals-against average and .787 save percentage. She is one of four conference goalkeepers whose goals-against average in Patriot League play is under 1.00, and she ranks third in such games with a .842 save percentage and 4.57 saves per match.

In addition to Carr's honors, juniors Margy Porta and Mackenzie Stickelman were honorable mentions for the week. Porta tallied three points on one goal and one assist in the win over the Crusaders, while Stickelman added her first goal of the season vs. Holy Cross as well.

BU, currently leading the Patriot League with 15 points on a 4-0-3 conference record, plays its final regular season road contest on Saturday (Oct. 26), visiting American at 1 p.m.
