Willander Named Hockey East Defender of the Week

AMESBURY, Mass. - Sophomore Tom Willander of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Defender of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Willander recorded two points in a weekend series at No. 7 North Dakota, highlighted by a power-play goal in Friday's 4-3 victory. The goal proved to be the game-winner, as he doubled the Terriers' lead to 4-2 with just 3:52 remaining in regulation. Willander finished the weekend with one goal, one assist, three blocked shots and six shots on goal.
A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Willander has notched a point in all five games this season, totaling two goals and three assists. He is a plus-4 and has blocked six shots to help BU begin the year with a 4-1-0 record.
