Softball Unveils Historic 2025 Schedule
November 18, 2024 | Softball
BOSTON – Highlighted by a program-record 21 home games and four matchups against the SEC, the six-time defending Patriot League regular season champion Boston University softball team has unveiled the 2025 schedule.
Coming off a program and conference record-breaking 53-6 campaign that included their sixth NCAA appearance since 2016, the Terriers and 10th-year head coach Ashley Waters will compete in 11 contests against squads that posted a top-100 RPI this past spring and 20 against teams that earned at least 29 wins. They will be on the road for the first 22 contests down South before opening the home schedule against Yale on Tuesday, March 18, in a doubleheader set for a 1 p.m. start.
BU will make history at home thanks to the ongoing change of surface from grass to turf by hosting more than 20 regular season games for the first time. The crown jewel of the home slate will be perennial NCAA power Kentucky visiting campus on April 12-13, as the Wildcats will mark the first SEC program to compete in New England in 30 years.
The Terriers' 38th season will get underway at the FGCU Kickoff Classic against LIU and Boston College on Friday, Feb. 7, in Fort Myers, Florida. Over the next two weeks, BU will head to East Carolina (Feb. 14-16) and South Carolina (Feb. 21-23) for a combined 10 games. The schedule will feature two games against each tournament host with the three programs all posting top-100 RPIs and 36+ wins apiece.
For Spring Break, BU will remain on the East Coast with five games at the Winthrop Eagle Classic (March 7-9) and single-game trips to both Queens (March 11) and Charlotte (March 12). Once back in New England, the Terriers will open the 21-game home slate against the Bulldogs for the third consecutive year with a doubleheader and then start Patriot League play at Bucknell on March 22-23.
BU will also host non-conference meetings against Dartmouth (March 26), Kentucky (April 12-13), Sacred Heart (April 12), Stonehill (April 16 DH), Harvard (April 22 DH) and Bryant (April 30 DH). Having made the last 15 NCAA regionals, the Wildcats will play one game against Sacred Heart and then two contests against the Terriers, who will also face the Pioneers once.
On the road in New England, BU will visit Merrimack (March 25 DH), Providence (April 2 DH) and then Boston College (April 8). During conference play, the Terriers will host Colgate (March 29), Army West Point (April 19-20) and Lafayette (May 3-4) with planned visits to Bucknell (March 22-23), Holy Cross (April 5-6) and Lehigh (April 26-30).
The Patriot League tournament will feature the top four teams in the standings with the top seed hosting on May 8-10.
