Softball Hits Way to Wins over SIUE and Stetson on Day Two of Frank Griffin Classic

DELAND, Fla. – Boosted by a combined .450 batting average, the Boston University softball team claimed a doubleheader sweep over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Frank Griffin Classic host Stetson on Saturday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.
The Terriers (4-0) first claimed a 9-5 win over the Cougars (1-3) behind a 15-7 advantage in hits and then earned a 7-2 victory against the Hatters (0-4) with a 12-5 lead in hits.
2023 NFCA All-American and senior Kayla Roncin led BU hitting 6-for-8 on the day with four runs scored, while senior Lauren Keleher, senior Kate Pryor and graduate student Caitlin Coker collected four hits apiece. All four Terriers along with graduate student Lizzy Avery earned multiple RBIs as well, combining for 13 total.
In the circle, graduate student Allison Boaz (2-0) pitched a three-inning save against SIUE and then went the distance in the second contest for her second win of the tournament, as she combined for five strikeouts. Avery(1-0) made her first start of the year in the first game, tallying two strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work.
BU will next conclude the Frank Griffin Classic on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Stetson on ESPN+.
