BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team continues its homestand with a matchup against Iona on Saturday. Opening draw at Nickerson Field against the Gaels is set for 1 p.m.
BU most recently hosted New Hampshire on Wednesday, winning 18-14. The Terriers are undefeated this season with a 2-0 record.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU had multiple runs in scoring against New Hampshire leading to an eventual 10 goal lead late in the game.
- Sophomore Elle Stevenson continued to impress and posted another five-goal game, bringing her season total to 10.
- Stevenson leads BU in goals with 10 and points with 12.
- Junior Hannah Tillier has had a hat trick in both games for BU this season.
- Also on a points streak is junior Abby Cotraro who had three goals in two games.
- Freshman Tessa Geddes found the back of the net against the Wildcats and logged her first career assist in Wednesday's game.
- Joining the rookie scoring ranks is freshman Reilly Walsh who recorded a hat trick against UNH for her first career goals. She also added an assist to total four points.
- Sophomore Leah Hodgins scored her first collegiate points with four goals against the Wildcats.
- Senior Ellen Monahan had a career game against UNH with eight draw controls and leads BU this season in caused turnovers with three.
- Hodgins, Geddes and Monahan are all tied on the season in draw controls with nine collected each.
- Freshman netminder Natalie Aiosa had her first career start against UNH and boasts a 2-0 record.
SCOUTING THE GAELS
- This will be Iona's first game of the season.
- The Gaels ended 2023 with a 9-7 record, notably defeating Merrimack 14-12 and Lafayette 11-10 (OT).
- Six freshmen and 24 upperclassmen make up the Iona roster.
- Head coach Lauren Kahn is in her fifth season at the helm.
THE SERIES
- This will be the second meeting between BU and Iona with BU leading the series 1-0.
- When the teams first met in 2023, BU won 14-9 on the road.
