- Boaz added an RBI sac fly, and Coker later launched a 2-2 pitch to right in the third to extend the lead to 5-0.
- The Friars started the fourth with a single, walk and sac bunt, but Boaz ended the threat with a strike out and ground out.
- Coker scored another run in the fifth by singling to right, stealing second, reaching third on a wild pitch and scoring on Doherty's RBI sac fly to right.
- Providence again had two to start the sixth before Boaz earned a strike out and pair of ground outs.
- The Terriers earned the walk-off victory during the bottom half with junior Tyesha Williams (walk) scoring on Roncin's single to center and senior Lauren Nett (single) touching home plate on Coker's sac fly.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coker followed Roncin's one-out walk with a single to right to put two in scoring position, but Tori Grifone earned a strikeout and line out to keep the game scoreless.
- Deppiesse put BU on the scoreboard in the second by tripling to left and scoring on a one-out passed ball.
- The Terriers had a pair of runners on base in both the third and fourth innings though were unable to deliver the clutch hit.
- Grifone helped her own cause by launching a 1-2 pitch toward left center that bounced off the top of the padding to tie the game in the fifth.
- Deppiesse earned a one-out walk in the sixth and took second on a wild pitch before Grifine ended the threat on a pair of fly outs.
- With the sunlight nearly gone, the Friars pressured Ricard in the seventh with a single and two-out walk, but she bounced back with a swinging strikeout.
- The Terriers loaded the bases in the bottom half with one out following three consecutive Providence errors in the darkness.
- BU was unable to get the ball out of the infield, striking out and then lining out to second for the tie.
- BU will next host Merrimack on Thursday (April 25) with a 2:15 p.m. start time.
- The Terriers have won the last eight meetings, including a road DH sweep last season (2-1, 9-0).
