Men's Soccer Shuts Down No. 9 New Hampshire in 0-0 Draw

BOSTON – Highlighted by graduate student Andrew Wike's five saves, the defending Patriot League champion Boston University men's soccer team opened its 76th season with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against No. 9 New Hampshire Thursday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
With Wike's first career clean sheet, the Terriers (0-0-1) extended NCAA's third longest active home unbeaten streak to 15 contests (11-0-4), as the Wildcats suffered their second shutout in three meetings against BU.

- The Wildcats earned three successive corner kicks in the second minute and added a fourth at 6:26, but the Terriers' backline prevented UNH from attempting a shot.
- After BU blocked UNH's first shot at 11:29, Wike was in perfect position to stop a header off the Wildcats' fifth corner.
- The teams went into the locker room scoreless with the Wildcats owning a 4-0 advantage in shots.
- Junior Diego Rived ripped BU's lone attempt from just outside the box in the 68th minute, but Erik Lauta was able to smother the ball.
- Wike added two more saves over the final 15 minutes to preserve the shutout.
- BU earned its fourth shutout in five contests dating back to the end of the 2023 season that saw the Terriers earn two shutouts at home to claim the Patriot League tournament title.
- Junior Quin DeLaMater and senior Kevin Torres joined Wike in playing all 90 minutes.
- Sophomore Andrea Di Blasio, junior Aidan Kieffer, freshman Dylan Williams and junior Damola Salami all made their debut in scarlet and white.
- The Terriers' backline successfully defended against nine corners.
- BU moved to 24-23-10 all-time against UNH with its second shutout over the last three home meetings between the two squads.
- The Terriers hit the road with a short trek to Northeastern on Tuesday (Aug. 27) with a 6 p.m. start time.
- The teams battled to a 1-1 draw last season at Nickerson Field after the Huskies pulled out a 2-1 home victory in 2022.
