HOW IT HAPPENED
- Michigan earned back-to-back corners in the third minute and scored off the latter to take an early lead as a shot by Abby Tamer went off a BU stick and high into the net at the 2:32 mark.
- BU quickly earned a corner of its own and the play resulted in a penalty stroke after a defensive save by Michigan off a shot by junior Caroline O'Brien went off the body of the defender.
- Anderson took the penalty stroke and tied the game by slotting the ball in the lower left of the cage at 3:46.
- BU grabbed the lead moments later as junior Martu Coulo collected a loose ball in the midfield and weaved around Wolverines down the left side before pushing the ball to a cutting Hammer, who used a first touch to create space in the middle of the circle, where she elevated the ball over the Michigan goalkeeper and in just 24 seconds after Anderson's tally.
- McLaughin started what would be a natural hat trick at the 10:05 mark when she inserted a corner and then tipped in an attempt that came from the top of the circle to make it a 2-2 contest.
- Off another corner in the second quarter, McLaughlin once again had the play set up for her following her insert as she found the back of the cage from the left side to give the visitors a 3-2 halftime lead.
- McLaughlin capped her three-goal night with a reverse-stick shot from the middle of the circle with 1:30 left in the third quarter.
- Tamer capped the scoring when she redirected a Pilar Oliveros offering in the 46th minute.
GAME NOTES
- Thomason matched her career high with the 12-save effort.
- Hala Silverstein earned the win in goal for Michigan with two saves in 49:59 of action before Caylie McMahon played the final 10 minutes.
