Hutson Named National Defender of the Month

AMESBURY, Mass. — Sophomore Cole Hutson of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named National Defender of the Month, announced by the Hockey Commissioner's Association on Thursday afternoon.
Hutson, the reigning Hockey East Defender of the Month, picked this season up right where he left off from 2024-25, scoring three goals and adding seven assists for 10 points in October, leading all defensemen in Hockey East and tying for second among defensemen in the Division I. His highlight-worthy scoring ability was on display in the first two games of the season, when he scored goals in back-to-back games to open up the year.
The reigning National Rookie of the Year and 2025 First Team All-American notched three multi-point games during his first month of play, tied for the most of any defenseman in Division I. On the home half of the ice, he blocked seven shots.
Next up, Hutson and the Terriers play a home-and-home series with Merrimack beginning Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at Agganis Arena and concluding Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at Lawler Arena.
