
Women's Lacrosse Outlasted at No. 14/15 Yale, 17-5

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Boston University women's lacrosse team was defeated by the No. 14/15 Yale Bulldogs on Saturday, 17-5, at Reese Stadium.
The Terriers (3-2) were only down 9-4 entering the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs (3-0) outscored BU 8-1 in the final frame to come away with the win.
BU had two multi-goal scorers in junior Tessa Geddes (2 goals) and senior Elle Stevenson (2), while junior Leah Hodgins added a tally. Sophomore Kaitlyn Barton had three ground balls, five draw controls and a caused turnover on the defensive side.
In net, junior Natalie Aiosa made 12 saves on 29 shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs got out to a hot start, scoring the first five goals of the game in the first quarter.
- Stevenson cut the deficit with 2:01 to play in the first quarter, taking a feed from junior Jayne Feeney and slotting it home.
- The Bulldogs added one more goal in the first, entering the second with a 6-1 lead.
- BU outscored Yale in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs got on the board first.
- With 13:06 left in the quarter, Barton caused a turnover and started the transition, which finished in Leah Hodgins' goal.
- Just 1:57 later, Geddes scored her first goal of the game on a free position and BU went into the half down 7-3.
- The Terriers stifled Yale's offense in the second quarter, forcing three shot clock violations.
- Yale struck twice in the third quarter, scoring with 7:33 and 6:12 left in the quarter.
- Stevenson potted her second with 4:37 remaining, firing from the right side of the 8-meter line and beating the Yale goalkeeper.
- Despite BU sticking around, the Bulldogs put it away decisively in the final frame.
- They scored four times in the first four minutes of the last quarter.
- Geddes halted that run with her second goal of the game with 10:46 remaining.
- BU is now 7-13 all-time against the Bulldogs.
- Yale won the draw control battle, 15-9.
- Aiosa has now made 10 or more saves in three of five games this season.
- Leah Hodgins extended her points streak to 14 games dating back to last season.
- Geddes' two points push her to 12 on the season, leading the Terriers.
- The Terriers will next travel to the Sunshine State and take on Stetson in DeLand, Florida next Saturday (Feb. 28).
- Opening draw is scheduled for noon.
