
Terriers Tally 19 Goals in Win Over Stetson

DELAND, Fla. — Powered by a team effort on offense, the Boston University women's lacrosse team earned a 19-6 victory over the Stetson Hatters on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers (4-2) got off to a hot start with six first-quarter goals and led the whole way over the Hatters (0-4). BU owned the draw and caused 12 turnovers in the win, dominating each aspect of the game.
There were three Terriers with four points or more, as freshman Avery Cutair notched a goal and four assists, senior Elle Stevenson scored two goals and had two assists and junior Tessa Geddes scored three goals and notched an assist.
Four Terriers scored their first career goals, as freshman Gabby O'Brien (2 goals), sophomore Nia Carrera (1 goal), freshman Karina Harrison (1 goal, 1 assist) and senior Alyssa Mozi (1 goal) all found the scoresheet for the first time in their careers.
Rounding out the goal scorers were sophomore Alex Cutone (2), senior Jayne Feeney (1g, 1a), junior Reilly Walsh (1g, 1a) and sophomore Izabella Amonte (1). Junior goalkeeper Natalie Aiosa made four saves in 52:57.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stevenson kicked off the game with her first goal just 2:45 into the contest.
- Cutair added her strike just 52 seconds later, making it 2-0 Terriers.
- The Hatters struck back with 10:24 left in the first, but then the Terriers went on a four-goal run to end the first.
- McDevitt buried a shot after a pass from Leah Hodgins to make it 3-1, then Carrera tallied her first goal on a free position.
- Stevenson's second goal came off a pass from Walsh, then Geddes scored with five seconds left in the first quarter.
- Stetson scored the first goal of the second quarter.
- Walsh got on the board next, striking unassisted with 10:26 left in the second.
- Then McDevitt went back-to-back on the scoresheet, scoring with 9:02 left and 8:12 left, the latter off a free position.
- The Hatters responded with two goals in succession.
- BU would score twice more in the first half, as Cutone got on the board on a solo effort and then Geddes dodged around a defender and slung a shot from her side to make it 11-4 entering the break.
- Coming out of the break, O'Brien netted her first career goal off a pass from Cutair just 24 seconds into the half.
- Cutone would score her second following Cutair, then Feeney and Geddes both added tallies to make it 15-4 Terriers entering the fourth quarter.
- In the fourth, Harrison made her mark on the scoresheet with her first career goal with 13:53 left.
- O'Brien scored again with 11:00 remaining to make it 17-4.
- Amonte's goal came while up a player, as she was assisted by Harrison for the tally.
- Junior Zoe Inglis entered the game for Aiosa with 7:03 remaining in the contest.
- The Hatters scored twice more, then Mozi notched her goal with 30 seconds remaining on an assist from freshman Mary Panley.
- Cutair's four-assist game is the second by her this season.
- BU ended up tallying first career goals from four scorers: Mozi, O'Brien, Harrison and Carrera.
- The Terriers won the draw control battle 18-10.
- Sophomore Kaitlyn Barton led the team with eight draw controls and now sits at 99 career draw controls.
- Stevenson notched two assists, a new career high. It marked her fourth straight multi-point game.
- The win marks BU's second victory by 10 or more goals this season, the first time they have hit that mark twice in the same season since 2019.
- The Terriers will next host Army West Point at Nickerson Field on Saturday, March 7 at 11:30 a.m., to open up Patriot League play.
