Courtney Oliver, a 2008 graduate of Hofstra, enters her first season on the coaching staff at Boston University for the 2009-10 academic year. Oliver, who made four straight appearances in the NCAA Regionals, was a member of four Colonial Athletic Association championship teams and was a two-time All-CAA First Team honoree with the Pride. In those four NCAA appearances, Oliver and the Pride reached the Regional Finals three times. She was a two-time first team all-league selection as a pitcher and designated player. She was also named to the 2008 All-CAA Tournament team. For her career, she ranks in the top-10 on Hofstra[apos]s career RBI (117) list. In the pitching circle, she ranks in the top-10 for career appearances (74), starts (50), wins (32) and strikeouts (258) in addition to providing two career no-hitters. She was part of the winningest class in school history, registering 166 wins in four seasons (166-64). In her senior season, she was 10-3 in the circle with a 1.12 ERA and led the Pride with four home runs and 40 RBI, highlighted by a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th in the CAA championship game against James Madison. Following graduation, Oliver gained experience in the sports industry with a stint at the Pawtucket Red Sox before accepting a post with the Monmouth softball team as the squad[apos]s pitching coach during the 2008-09 academic year. While with the Hawks, Oliver designed pitching, hitting and conditioning workouts and assisted on the road with recruiting. Oliver[apos]s responsibilities as an assistant at Boston University will include working with the pitching staff and spearheading BU[apos]s recruiting efforts. A native of Swansea, Mass., she graduated from Hofstra in 2008 with a degree in business administration.
