Megan Burke joined the Boston University women's soccer program in July of 2022. The 2025 campaign was her fourth season with the Terriers. She was named the third head coach in program history in January of 2025 and recently completed her first season at the helm.
Burke guided BU to the Patriot League regular season championship in her first season in 2025. She, along with assistant coaches Marcus Carrington and Amy Thompson (CAS'22, Wheelock'25), were selected as the Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year. The Terriers compiled a 7-1-1 Patriot League record for its sixth regular season title since joining the conference in 2013 and its most league victories in seven years. BU hosted the Patriot League Championship at Nickerson Field after entering the match on an eight-game winning streak and seven-game shutout streak. At the end of the season, the Terriers ranked top-30 in Division I in shots on goal per game (14th), points per game (19th), shots per game (21st), scoring offense (22nd), assists per game (23rd), shutout percentage (25th), total assists (27th), total goals (29th) and total points (30th). Overall, 12 Terriers set personal bests in points.
In 2025, Burke oversaw four Patriot League major award winners and seven All-Patriot League honorees. This included the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Giulianna Gianino, who set a single season program record with 15 assists in 2025 and ranked first in the nation with 0.79 assists per game. Burke also oversaw the development of Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year Helene Tyburczy, who helped guide a Terrier defense that registered a 659:27 scoreless streak across nine matches as well as a 646:29 scoreless streak at home from Aug. 17 to Nov. 9.
In her third year as an assistant coach in 2024, she helped BU capture its fifth Patriot League championship in program history and 14th conference championship overall. The Terriers became the fourth Patriot League team since league expansion in 2013 and first BU team since 2018 to go unbeaten in conference play, sporting a 5-0-4 record to earn the No. 2-seed in the Patriot League Tournament. BU drew with top-ranked Bucknell 1-1 before advancing on penalty kicks, 8-7.
Overall, seven Terriers garnered All-Patriot League recognition under Burke's watch in 2024, including First Team selections Giulianna Gianino and Margy Porta. Gianino as well as Morgan Fagan were selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Burke's second season in Terrier Town saw BU post a 7-7-6 record, going 4-3-2 in Patriot League action. The Terriers' 31 goals and 29 assists were the most in a single season since 2015, and 2011, respectively. Six Terriers also captured All-Patriot League accolades.
In her first season in 2022, BU captured an 11-8-1 record, going 6-3 in Patriot League play and reaching the Patriot League Tournament semifinal round. Six Terriers picked up All-Patriot League honors, while the Terriers led the league with three Academic All-Patriot League selections.
Burke joins BU following three years at Fairfield University under Head Coach David Barrett. Burke has helped the Stags total 20 wins in the two full seasons during her tenure, as well as reaching the 2019 MAAC championship game as the No. 2 seed.
Fairfield recorded 12 All-MAAC selections with Burke on the coaching staff, which includes two United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees in Gabby Diodati and Stephanie Tsangaris and 2019 MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year Josie Horosky. In addition, the Stags notched 56 MAAC All-Academic recipients.
Burke was named one of 30 selections for the United Soccer Coaches 30 under 30, a program with a year-long education and mentorship opportunity designed to support up-and-coming members of the coaching profession. She received an educational scholarship which provides registrations for the United Soccer Coaches Digital Convention and an Advanced Diploma course of the coach's choosing.
Prior to her time at Fairfield, Burke served as a graduate assistant coach at New Mexico State for two seasons. In her first year in 2017, the Aggies racked up nine wins, one shy of the program record, and had three All-WAC selections.
A native of Shelton, Conn., Burke played collegiate soccer at UMass. Starting 69 of her 71 career matches, she registered 11 goals and eight assists throughout her four seasons.
