
Eichel Collects Trio of Hockey East Year-End Honors

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman center Jack Eichel of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was a unanimous selection to the 2014-15 Hockey East Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team and earned two other year-end awards, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Eichel was the league's Squad Locker Scoring Champion and Army ROTC Three Stars Award winner. He totaled 44 points (14g, 30a) in 22 conference games, becoming the first player in 16 years to average two points per game in Hockey East play.
Joining Eichel on the All-Rookie Team were Boston College defenseman Noah Hanafin, who was another unanimous selection, Notre Dame goaltender Cal Petersen, UMass defenseman Brandon Montour, BC forward Alex Tuch and UMass Lowell forward C.J. Smith.
Senior Evan Rodrigues was a runner-up for three awards. He finished second to Eichel in scoring and in the three stars contest while coming in second to Providence Noel Acciari in voting for the Gladiator Custom Mouthgards Best Defensive Forward award.
Eichel and all of the other award winners will be officially honored at the annual Hockey East Awards Banquet Thursday night at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge. The league All-Star squads and major awards will also be unveiled at Thursday's banquet.
