TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU opened its 105th season with a weekend sweep at Alaska on Oct. 2-3, earning a 2-1 overtime win on Friday and a 4-0 victory on Saturday.
- Sophomore Tynan Lawrence factored on both goals in Friday's triumph, assisting on classmate Jack Murtagh's first-period strike before scoring just 1:18 into overtime.
- Senior captain Jack Harvey and sophomore Carter Amico assisted on Lawrence's winner.
- The teams remained scoreless on Saturday until freshman Haoxi (Simon) Wang scored his first collegiate goal just 3:43 into the third period.
- Junior Kamil Bednarik doubled the lead with 8:46 remaining before freshman Caleb Malhotra and Lawrence each added an empty-netter.
- Murtagh assisted on Lawrence's goal while Harvey and Bednarik had the helpers on Malhotra's first collegiate goal.
- Junior Brandon Svoboda and senior Aiden Celebrini assisted on Wang's strike.
- Junior Mikhail Yegorov was sharp all weekend, allowing just one power-play goal and stopping 41 of the 42 shots he faced.
- That includes a 16-save shutout on Saturday night.
- Yegorov owns a .976 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average so far this season.
- Saturday's 4-0 victory at Alaska was the 100th career win for head coach Jay Pandolfo, all of which have come at BU.
- He is the fifth Terrier men's ice hockey head coach to reach 100 wins and enters Saturday with a 100-52-6 (.652) record.
- Going back to last season, Lawrence has recorded a point in each of his last four games and in six of his last seven appearances.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown begins a new era for its men's ice hockey program on Saturday under first-year head coach Thomas Upton, who was previously an assistant coach at UMass.
- Junior Ben Poitras is the Bears' returning leader in goals (10), assists (8) and points (18).Â
- Juniors Charlie Gollob and Brian Nicholas also had eight assists last season.Â
- The Terriers faced former Brown goaltender Tyler Shea last weekend at Alaska.
- The Bears' lone returning netminder is senior Fred Halyk, who started seven of his nine appearances last year.
- He posted an .881 save percentage and a 4.36 goals-against average.
- They did add transfer Eli Pulver from Wisconsin, who posted a 3.79 GAA and an .867 save percentage in 12 appearances with the Badgers.
- BU last faced Brown on Dec. 31, 2021, when a depleted Terrier lineup earned a 5-1 victory over the Bears in Providence.
- The Terriers are 59-21-3 in 83 all-time meetings with the Bears in a series that dates back to Feb. 16, 1927.
- This will be just the third time Brown has visited Agganis Arena.
- BU and Brown skated to a 4-4 tie at Agganis on Nov. 27, 2010.
- The Terriers then earned a 3-2 overtime win over Brown on Jan. 8, 2020, thanks to Wilmer Skoog's first collegiate goal.
