Men's Lacrosse Announces Class of 2020
August 24, 2016 | Men's Lacrosse
BOSTON - The Boston University men's lacrosse team will welcome eight newcomers to the 2017 roster, head coach Ryan Polley announced on Wednesday.
The class hails from six different states as well as Ontario. For the fourth straight season, BU will add a player from Massachusetts. Three midfielders, two attackmen, one close defender, one long-stick midfielder and one goalkeeper comprise the incoming group.
"We're excited to welcome the Class of 2020 to Comm. Ave next week," Polley said. "This will be the fourth recruiting class in the program's history and it will obviously be a big boost to the program to finally have four full classes of our recruits. This group adds athleticism, a trio of pure goal scorers, a pair of great defenders and a top-flight goalie to our current roster. It's an exciting time for the program, and my staff and I are eager to start working with the team, especially these eight freshmen."
BU will enter its fourth varsity season with 43 returning letter winners, including three All-Patriot League honorees from the 2016 campaign. The Terriers finished last season with a winning record and two victories over ranked opponents.

Polley on Colling: "Jackson was a mainstay on his Lake Highland Prep team for four years, winning three championships and garnering All-America honors as a senior. He played in some incredibly important games for both Lake Highland Prep and for his Under Armor South team. We love Jackson's athleticism and scoring ability and we expect him to compete for playing time early in his collegiate career."

Polley on Ellerton: "Nick is going to play both close defense and LSM for us. We're excited to see how far he's come after a PG year at Phillips Andover for Steve Moreland; I think that experience is going to bode very well for him. He has very good ball skills, is a high-IQ player and I know he focused on his strength and conditioning in his year at Andover."
Eric Haab (5-10 • 155 • A • Gladwyne, Pa./Episcopal Academy)
BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Played three seasons of varsity lacrosse at Episcopal Academy … Captained the team in 2016 … Was the squad's Most Improved Player as a junior … Named to 2015 USA Today ALL-USA Pennsylvania Team.
Polley on Haab: "Eric is a pure goal scorer. Unfortunately he had an ACL injury in his senior year, but he has recovered nicely and should be ready for the fall. Eric scored a ton of important goals for Episcopal in his junior year and he is going to provide us some depth on attack. He's an excellent mid-range shooter and I expect him to challenge for some minutes on man-up as a lefty."
Chase Levesque (6-3 • 195 • D/LSM • Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield)
BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Played three seasons of varsity lacrosse at Ridgefield High School … Was a starter in his final two seasons … Earned US Lacrosse All-America accolades in 2016 … Also received First Team All-State honors and First Team All-FCIAC honors as a senior … Was the 2016 CIAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year … Also captained the basketball team.
Polley on Levesque: "Chase had a wonderful senior year for Ridgefield, receiving All-America honors. He scored a bunch of goals from the LSM position and we're excited about the transition he will provide for us. He's a good on-ball defender and we've encouraged him to work on his strength and conditioning over the summer. He's a tall, rangy player and we expect him to make a lot of plays in the middle of the field."
John MacLean (6-0 • 175 • M • Medfield, Mass./Medfield)
BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Played four seasons of varsity lacrosse at Medfield High School, starting as a freshman … Named to 2016 Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic Teams after scoring 74 goals and adding 26 assists … Won three straight state titles (2014, 2015, 2016) … Three-time EMLCA All-American … Was the 2015 Tri-Valley League MVP ... Named Tri-Valley League Offensive Player of the Year in 2014.
Polley on MacLean: "John is a local product and one of our first commits of the class. As we've done over the past few years, we try to keep the best players in Massachusetts home, and that's no exception with John, who was a Boston Globe Player of the Year and a three-time EMLCA All-American. A prolific goal scorer from the midfield position, John is an excellent outside shooter who also has an excellent shot on the run. We expect him to compete for playing time right away."
Joe McSorley (5-9 • 185 • GK • Forest Hill, Md./Calvert Hall)
BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Was the starting goalie for the varsity team at Calvert Hall for four seasons … Captained the team as a junior and a senior … Played for the Baltimore Under Armour Underclass team … Was a 2016 MSLCA Second Team All-State selection … Also earned Second Team All-Metro honors as a senior.
Polley on McSorley: "Joe is a tremendous goalie from the Baltimore area. He played in a great high school league and we're excited to get someone with his experience in our program. He saw great competition game in and game out, and he met and exceeded expectations all four years at Calvert Hall. His best attribute is his ball-stopping ability, but he does have a good stick and we expect him to come in and compete for playing time right away."
Conor Muldoon (6-4 • 225 • A • Garden City, N.Y./Garden City)
BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Played two years of varsity lacrosse at Garden City High School … Was a 2014 Under Armour Underclass All-American … Earned all-county honors as a senior after scoring 54 points … Also played two years of varsity basketball, earning all-conference honors as a senior.
Polley on Muldoon: "Conor is an athletic goal scorer from Long Island who can play both attack and midfield. He moves very well for his size and possesses an excellent outside shot. Conor spent time this summer in Canada playing box lacrosse for the Sherwood Park Titans. I expect that experience will benefit him a great deal. He will most likely see some time on man-up and will compete for playing time at both attack and midfield."
Connor Pearce (5-11 • 175 • M • Monkton, Md./Calvert Hall)
BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Played two seasons of varsity lacrosse at Calvert Hall … Was a starting midfielder and also played on the team's man-up units.
Polley on Pearce: "Connor is a do-it-all middie from Calvert Hall. His best attribute is the fact that he's a utility player. Connor can play in transition, play defense and play wing on the faceoff. He is also very good off of the ground and possesses a high IQ. We expect him to compete for playing time somewhere, because of his ability to do so many things well."
