BOSTON - The Boston University men's ice hockey team will look to close out the 2017 portion of its schedule on a winning note when it hosts UMass Lowell in the finale of a weekend home-and-home series on Saturday (Dec. 9) at Agganis Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
The Terriers will hold their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday during the second intermission. Fans can bring their own teddy bears to donate or purchase them at the game.
Last night in Lowell, the River Hawks scored twice in the third period to post a 3-2 win over the Terriers. Freshman Brady Tkachuk opened the scoring and senior Drew Melanson scored his first goal as a Terrier.
This weekend marks the first time in 10 years (Dec. 7, 2007) that the Terriers and River Hawks are meeting with neither team in the national rankings.
BU is 73-30-9 (.692) in 112 all-time meetings with the River Hawks. Lowell, however, is 11-5-1 in the past 17 meetings and 12 of BU's 30 losses in the all-time series have occurred since the start of the 2011-12 season. The Terriers are 11-6-3 in the 20 games that have taken place at Agganis Arena.
The teams split their regular-season series each of the past two seasons with the home team winning all four contests.
The River Hawks are fourth in the Hockey East standings with 12 points while the Terriers are right behind in a tie for fifth with 11 points.
