May 28, 2017 | Men's Lacrosse
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Former Boston University men's lacrosse standouts Dominick Calisto and Cal Dearth were both selected in the fourth round of the Major League Lacrosse Draft on Sunday afternoon.
Dearth became the first Terrier in program history to be drafted into the MLL when the Charlotte Hounds selected him in the fourth round with the 31st overall pick. A USILA Honorable Mention All-American this past season, Dearth excelled at both midfield and attack for the Terriers during his outstanding career. He finished 2017 with single-season program records for goals (38) and points (57) while also tallying 19 assists. Dearth posted at least one point in all 17 games and graduated BU with the program record for goals (83), assists (70) and points (153).
It did not take long for Calisto to join Dearth in the pro ranks, as the Ohio Machine drafted Calisto with the 35th overall pick, also in the fourth round. A First Team All-Patriot League, All-ECAC and All-New England close defender, Calisto enjoyed his best season as a Terrier in 2017. He had a team-high 28 caused turnovers and also collected 37 ground balls while consistently holding opponents' top attackers in check, including Tewaaraton finalist Pat Spencer (one assist against Calisto).
