
Terriers Set to Battle No. 9 Loyola in PL Tournament Semifinals

BOSTON - For the second straight season, the Boston University women's lacrosse team will matchup with No. 9 Loyola in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals on Friday, May 4. Opening draw from the Ridley Athletic Complex is set for 4 p.m.
TOURNAMENT TIME
- BU is 6-4 all-time in the PL tournament and has advanced to the semifinals all five seasons since joining the league.
- This will mark the second straight year the Terriers and Greyhounds will meet in the semifinals and the third time overall.
- Loyola earned its first Patriot League championship in 2014 over BU, 18-7, and has since eliminated the Terriers in the semifinals in 2015 and 2017.
SCOUTING LOYOLA
- Loyola, the top overall seed in the tournament, is coming off its 500th win in program history as it downed Holy Cross, 23-5, in the regular season finale to claim its fifth Patriot League regular season title.
- Loyola has won six in-a-row and finished the regular season with a 14-3 record, while its lone three losses have come against ranked opponents.
- The Greyhounds led the Patriot League with nine all-conference selections and swept the major awards as Hannah Powers (Attacker of the Year), Kristen Yanchoris (Defensive Player of the Year/Scholar-Athlete of the Year), Livy Rosenzweig (Rookie of the Year) and Jen Adams (Coach of the Year) were honored as the league's best.
- Rosenzweig leads the team with 78 points on 41 goals and 37 assists.
- Taylor VanThof leads the team in goals (42) and leads the league in draw controls (110).
- Kady Glynn has started all 17 games in net, posting a 10.94 goals against average and a .474 save percentage.
THE SERIES
- Loyola has taken the last eight matchups since both squads entered the Patriot League in 2014, and leads the all-time series 10-2.
- BU outscored Loyola 8-6 in the second half, but could not overcome a 10-goal deficit as it dropped the regular season matchup, 18-11, on March 31 in Boston.
- The Greyhounds ended BU's season in the 2017 Patriot League tournament semifinals by a final score of 19-14.
