The Boston University field hockey team will play its first road game of the Patriot League season on Friday (Oct. 11) with a visit to Colgate. Game time at Tyler's Field is set for 4 p.m.
The Terriers (3-7, 0-2 PL) suffered their first home losses in conference play in six years as Bucknell and Lafayette left Boston with wins to put BU in an early hole. For its remaining PL schedule, BU will also visit Holy Cross and Lehigh in addition to hosting American.
Colgate (2-10, 0-3 PL) is in search of its first win in over a month and posted victories over Towson and Saint Louis earlier this season. The Raiders were in Massachusetts last weekend, dropping road contests at Holy Cross (2-0) and UMass Lowell (4-0).
The Raiders are paced by junior Taylor Casamassa, who has team highs in points (10) and assists (4) while adding three goals, tying her with senior Nicole Salamone (3-2--8) in that category. Junior Meghan Minturn (2g, 1a) and freshman Mari Kniezewski (2g) have added five and four points, respectively.
Sophomore Anna Unger has started all 12 games in goal for Colgate and currently has a .670 save percentage and a 3.04 goals-against average.
Five of the Terriers' past six losses have been by a single goal. BU fell to Penn at home on Sunday by a score of 1-0 after a tough 3-2 loss to Lafayette in double overtime on Saturday.
Junior Ailsa Connolly continues to lead the Terriers in nearly every category with six goals and three assists for 15 points. She has a team-best 24 shots and two of her tallies have been game-winners.
Freshmen Jodie Conolly and Ellie McIntyre have tallied three goals apiece and Conolly has added a pair of assists while juniors Miya Denison and Liz Ryan each have recorded two goals and a helper.
Senior goalkeeper Livy Golini earned her first start as a Terrier on Sunday, making two saves in the loss to the Quakers.
BU is 8-1 all-time against the Raiders with the lone loss coming in the first-ever meeting in 1983. Last season, the Terriers posted a 2-0 home triumph against Colgate, highlighted by Rebecca Janes' first collegiate goal that opened the scoring.
