WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After an impressive performance in his collegiate debut, freshman forward Robert Mastrosimone of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.
Mastrosimone scored on his first shot as a Terrier and added an assist in BU's 7-3 road win over Union on Saturday in the season opener. The rookie forward from East Islip, N.Y., also had a plus-2 rating and was unofficially credited with seven hits.
With the game tied 2-2 early in the second period, Mastrosimone followed up his own rebound and sent home a loose puck from the left slot at 2:02 of the period. He also assisted on sophomore Matthew Quercia's goal that opened the scoring in the first period. He was one of eight Terrier freshmen making his collegiate debut.
