CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Freshman
Joel Farabee become the record 10th Boston University freshman to garner Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year honors on Thursday evening at the annual league banquet at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.
For the third time in five years, a Terrier was tabbed the top rookie in Hockey East as Farabee joined recent honorees Clayton Kelley (2017) and Jack Eichel (2015).
Farabee currently leads BU in both points (36) and goals (17) and he led all Hockey East rookies in points during league play with 24 on seven goals and 17 assists.
Farabee also leads the Terriers in game-winning goals (3), penalty minutes (57), plus-minus (+4) and shots on goal (131) this season. The rookie forward is tied with junior
Dante Fabbro for the team lead in power-play goals (5) and power-play assists (10).
The U.S. National Team Development Program product and Cicero, N.Y. native has nine multi-point games this season and has tallied nine points (6g, 3a) over the past seven games. He currently ranks third nationally among freshmen in points per game at 0.97.
