Softball Travels to Lafayette for PL Weekend Series

BOSTON – Riding a five-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will head to Lafayette for a Patriot League weekend series starting Saturday with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. on the Patriot League Network. The teams will meet one more time Sunday as well at 12 p.m. 

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is coming off Wednesday's home doubleheader sweep against UMass Lowell ... In the 4-3 game-one victory, the Terriers had four two-out RBI singles (two in the first, two in the fifth) and then followed up with a walk-off 3-2 game-two nine-inning win.
  • The Terriers are 8-1 in conference play with a pair of three-game sweeps (Holy Cross, Colgate) and series win at Lehigh (2-0, 2-0, 0-1).
  • BU is batting .275 in PL action and holding opponents to .124 with a 17-4 advantage in extra-base hits.
  • Senior Alex Heinen is batting an impressive .462 with a team-high six RBIs in the nine contests with fellow seniors Madi Killebrew (.357), Alexa Ponce (.333) and Emily Morrow (.320) all batting over .300 as well.
  • Overall, Heinen owns 27 RBIs with Morrow tallying 20 ... They both have 19 runs scored, behind freshman Aliyah Huerta-Leipner's 25 runs.
  • Both sophomore Ali DuBois (17-8, 1.34 ERA) and freshman Emily Gant (7-7, 1.70 ERA) combinend for 19 strikeouts in 15 innings of work against UMass Lowell.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
  • The Leopards are 5-10-0 at home compared to their 2-18-1 mark in away/neutral games ... They own home wins against St. Peter's (2x), Monmouth, La Salle and Army West Point.
  • Lafayette is 3-2 over the last five games since being swept at PL leader Bucknell (12-0 PL) ... The Leopards lost the first two contests to the Bison by a combined score of 17-1 and came up just short in the third game, 2-0.
  • The Leopards are batting .215 as a team and are holding opponents to .317 with opponents owning a 27-6 advantage in homers and 57-39 lead in doubles.
  • Brooke Wensel is batting a team-high .315 with eight doubles and 18 runs scored, while Erin Scott (.264) owns a team-high 16 RBIs ... Maddie Wensel (.242) is the third Leopard above .200 with 17 runs scored.
  • Stacy Gordon (3-13, 5.86 ERA) and Kinzi Van Wyk (4-14, 6.10 ERA) have combined for 32 starts.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers are 15-0 all-time against Lafayette, having swept the Leopards in each of the past five seasons.
  • BU has earned a shutout in seven of the last nine games.
  • Last season, the Terriers won all three home games by a combined score of 19-2 (7-2, 9-0, 3-0) after winning all three on the road in 2017 (1-0 / 11 inn., 7-0, 6-0).
