Burr Signs with Boston Cannons
May 13, 2019 | Men's Lacrosse
QUINCY, Mass. - Soon-to-be Questrom School of Business graduate James Burr of the Boston University men's lacrosse team has signed a rookie contract with the Boston Cannons, the organization announced on Monday.
Burr, who was selected by the Cannons in the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft in March, was outstanding for the Terriers in 2019. He finished the season with a program-record 56 goals, which ranked third in the country prior to this weekend's NCAA Tournament tilts, and 16 assists for 72 points, which ranks second in program history among single-season performances. Burr scored a goal in 34 straight games dating back to the start of the 2018 campaign, tying him for the longest active streak in the nation. He earned First Team All-Patriot League accolades and was a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award. Burr will graduate as the team's all-time leader in goals (153) and points (194).
Not only did Burr put together a 34-game goal scoring streak, but he also recorded at least two goals in all 17 games this season. He twice matched a program record with six goals in a game and collected a career-best nine points (5g, 4a) in the Terriers' 18-11 triumph over No. 2 Loyola Maryland on April 13. Burr notched at least three points in all 17 starts at attack in 2019.
A native of Hamilton, Massachusetts, Burr is one of three Terriers currently with the Cannons. Cal Dearth ('17) will be back for his second full season with the club and his third year in the MLL. Dominick Calisto ('17) joined the Cannons in April after two seasons with the Ohio Machine.
