
Softball Ends Non-Conference Slate at BC Tuesday Afternoon

BOSTON – In the final non-conference matchup before opening Patriot League play, the Boston University softball team will make the short trek to Boston College on Tuesday afternoon with first pitch set for 3 p.m. Fans will be able to watch the action on ACC Network Extra.
The Terriers own the ninth longest active streak in the country at nine games after claiming a home doubleheader sweep over America East preseason favorite Stony Brook (6-3, 3-0) on Saturday. The Seawolves rebounded by posting a DH sweep at BC on Sunday (4-1, 3-0) after the Eagles were blanked by the Terriers this past Thursday, 5-0.
Junior Nicole Amodio (.400 avg.) leads BU with 13 RBIs and three doubles, while classmate Aliyah Huerta-Leipner (.324 avg.) has 11 runs scored. Junior Emily Gant (.360 avg.) is second in runs (10) and RBIs (9). Senior Jen Horita has provided an offensive spark with clutch hitting against BC and Stony Brook to bat .615 with eight hits on 13 at-bats to help the Terriers post a .291 batting average.
Senior Ali DuBois (8-0, 0.57 ERA) owns 59 strikeouts in 49.1 innings with four shutouts, including last week's performance at BC. Sophomore Allison Boaz (2-0, 1.15 ERA) has pitched 12 scoreless innings with a no-hit win at Merrimack and shutout victory over SBU. Overall, the Terriers' pitching staff is holding batters to .157.
Ellie Matya is batting .420 to lead BC with four doubles, two triples and eight RBIs. The next closest Eagle though is Kristin Giery at .286, as BC is hitting .239 so far. Bianna Boccagno (.194) has provided the power with three homers. In the circle, Susannah Anderson (3-6, 3.02 ERA) has made nine starts with 48 strikeouts in 53.1 innings. CC Cook (1-4, 3.63 ERA) has made five starts with 18 strikeouts in 27.0 innings.
Overall, BU is 22-26 all-time in the series after claiming its first shutout last week against the Eagles since 2012. DuBois recorded eight strikeouts, and four different Terriers earned an RBI for the win.
