Junior Tess Csejka and senior Mikayla Crowley each scored for the Terriers while freshman Martu Coulo collected her first collegiate point with an assist on Csejka's tally.
Led by freshman Tasmin Cookman's hat trick and nine saves from Jemma Woods, UNH improved to 2-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening quarter, UNH opened the scoring with two goals from Cookman just over three minutes apart in the second quarter.
- Cookman got her first at the 18:32 mark when she navigated through the left side with an elevated dribble before knocking in a shot to the far corner of the cage.
- The freshman struck again soon after on a corner as she tipped in a shot by Ava Mariani after a direct insert in the 22nd minute.
- BU threatened to get on the board before halftime with a trio of corners, but one try went wide, another was stopped by a defensive save and Woods made a stop at the end of the half to keep the home team up 2-0 at the break.
- The Terriers kept up the pressure entering the second half and got on the board off a corner, as Coulo collected a rebound off a shot by sophomore Payton Anderson and then maneuvered to create space near the left post before lifting the ball towards the goalmouth, where Csejka knocked it in for her second goal in as many games.
- BU's goal came at the 33:17 mark and cut the UNH lead to 2-1 but the home team responded less than three minutes later to re-establish a two-goal cushion.
- Leah Glidden knocked in an elevated pass from Nicole Poulakis at 36:15, making it a 3-1 contest.
- Glidden scored again to make it 4-1 at the 41:26 mark when she redirected a centering pass from Lily Rothwell to the left boards.
- Cookman capped her hat trick when she converted a penalty stroke in the 48th minute
- Crowley capped the scoring in the 50th minute when she sent home a rebound in front after a shot by Csejka off a quick restart.
- BU held a 15-13 advantage in shots and doubled up the Wildcats in penalty corners, 8-4.
- The loss snapped the Terriers' six-game win streak in its series with its former conference rival.
- Senior Caroline Kelly played the first half in goal for BU and made five saves before junior Kate Thomason played the latter half.
- Molly McAteer made a defensive save for UNH to contribute to Woods' nine-save effort.
- The Terriers will return to action on Friday (Sept. 2) when they visit No. 5 Iowa.
- Game time is 3 p.m. CST
