IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Boston University field hockey team (1-1) returns to action on Friday (Sept. 2) when it visits No. 5 Iowa. The Terriers will stay in Iowa City to face Saint Louis in a neutral-site contest on Saturday (Sept. 3). Friday's contest will start at 4 p.m. ET while the game against the Billikens will begin at 2 p.m. ET.
The Terriers are coming off an opening-weekend split, earning a 2-1 win over Providence before falling at UNH, 5-2.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers will be making their first trip to the Central time zone since a visit to Northwestern in 2018.
- BU opened its season on Aug. 26 with a 2-1 home victory over Providence.
- The win over the Friars included a three-hour, 22-minute weather delay.
- BU's road opener took place on Aug. 28 at New Hampshire with the Wildcats earning a 5-2 win.
- Junior Tess Csejka scored a goal in each contest and helped to set up senior Mikayla Crowley's goal against UNH.
- Sophomore Payton Anderson, who moved from forward to back, got the game winner against the Friars.
- Freshman Martu Coulo caused a turnover that led to Csejka's goal against the Friars and then picked up her first collegiate point with an assist versus the Wildcats.
- Senior Caroline Kelly made seven combined saves in the two contests.
- The Hawkeyes are coming off a 2022 season that saw them capture the Big Ten regular-season championship and earn the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA tournament before falling in the NCAA quarterfinals.
- Iowa opened the 2022 season with a 2-1 road win at Wake Forest in double overtime.
- The Hawkeyes stayed in Winston-Salem and dropped a 3-2 overtime contest against No. 2 North Carolina on Sunday.
- Junior Alex Wesneski scored a goal in both games while sophomore Annika Herbine provided the double-overtime winner in the opener.
- Ciara Smith, one of seven fifth-year players on the roster, is the leading returning scorer after putting up 21 points on the strength of a team-best 10 goals last season.
- Fifth-year goalkeeper Grace McGuire is in her third year as the team's primary starter and earned NFHCA All-America Second Team honors in 2021.
- BU and Iowa met last season for the first time since 2009 and the Hawkeyes earned a 4-0 win at New Balance Field.
- The Terriers have won just one of their 10 meetings with the Hawkeyes.
- BU's lone victory against Iowa was a big one, coming by way of a 1-0 double-overtime contest in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament.

- Following their Iowa weekend, the Terriers will next visit UMass Lowell on Friday (Sept. 9) for a 6 p.m. contest.
