Women’s Soccer Garners Six All-PL Accolades

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following the end of the 2023 regular season, the Boston University women's soccer program landed six student-athletes on the All-Patriot League postseason teams, the conference announced on Friday afternoon.
 
Senior Abigail McNulty and sophomore Giulianna Gianino earned First Team honors, sophomore Natalie Godoy was named to the Second Team, and juniors Morgan Fagan and Celia Braun, as well as sophomore Mackenzie Stickelman, were recognized on the Third Team.
 
BU's six selections were tied with Bucknell for the second-highest amount across the Patriot League. Regular season champion Army West Point paced the conference with eight honorees.
 
ABIGAIL McNULTY – FIRST TEAM
  • McNulty receives her third All-Patriot League distinction, and second First Team spot in her career.
  • Appearing in nine games, she recorded four goals and 10 assists for 10 points, while registering 13 of her 27 total shots on target.
  • All 10 of her points came against Patriot League foes, as she ranked second in the league with 1.67 points per game against conference opponents.
  • The Stow, Mass. native was selected as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week twice this year, winning the award on Oct. 2 and Oct. 9.
GIULIANNA GIANINO – FIRST TEAM
  • Gianino is named First Team All-Patriot League for the first time in her career after being named to the Second Team as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2022.
  • Starting all 18 of her appearances, she ranks first on the Terriers with six goals, 15 points, and 59 shots, while playing the most minutes of any non-goalkeeper Terrier.
  • Compared to Patriot League colleagues, she is tied for third with her six goals, and fourth with 3.28 shots per game.
  • BU went 7-0-2 on the season when Gianino collected a point.
NATALIE GODOY – SECOND TEAM
  • Godoy's Second Team selection is her first to any postseason team in her career.
  • The Avon, Conn. product shared the team lead with Gianino with six goals and 15 points in 18 games after not registering a point as a freshman.
  • She was tied for seventh in the Patriot League with .83 points per game.
  • Eleven of her points arrived against Patriot League competition, including a five-point effort against American that led to her Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday (Oct. 23).
MORGAN FAGAN – THIRD TEAM
  • Fagan earns Third Team recognition for her first time following a Second Team honor in 2022.
  • She notched three goals and two assists for eight points on 22 shots this season.
  • All but one point was against Patriot League foes.
  • She tallied her first collegiate brace in the 3-3 draw at Bucknell on Oct. 14.
MACKENZIE STICKELMAN – THIRD TEAM
  • Stickelman collects All-Patriot League honors for the first time as a Terrier.
  • After playing eight games off the bench a year ago, she started in all 18 games, playing over 70 minutes in a match across 10 contests.
  • The sophomore also potted three goals with one assist for seven points, and helped the BU defense post four shutouts in 2023.
  • She was named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week on Aug. 28 after scoring the game-winning goal against UAlbany in the 83rd minute.
CELIA BRAUN – THIRD TEAM
  • Braun earns a spot on a postseason All-Patriot League team for the first time in her career.
  • Splitting time between the posts in her first two seasons, Braun started a career-high 18 games while playing all 1,620 regular season minutes.
  • The junior posted a 1.39 goals-against average along with a .742 save percentage and four shutouts.
  • Heading into the Patriot League Tournament, her 72 saves this year are the sixth-most by a BU goalkeeper in a single season. Her 143 career stops rank fifth all-time.
The fourth-seeded Terriers host No. 5 Lehigh on Sunday (Oct. 29) at Nickerson Field for the Patriot League Quarterfinals. Opening kick is slated for 1 p.m.
