AMESBURY, Mass. - Freshman
Macklin Celebrini of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Celebrini scored three goals and added two assists for five points to help the Terriers take five of six points from this past weekend's series against then-No. 19 UMass. He began the weekend with one goal and two assists in his home debut, a 5-2 win over the Minutemen. It was Celebrini's first three-point effort as a Terrier.
The Vancouver native was the game-saver for the Terriers in Saturday night's 3-3 tie at UMass, as he tallied two third-period goals to force overtime and eventually allow BU to earn shootout win. Celebrini's first strike came at the 5:20 mark first goal came at the 5:20 mark to bring BU level at 2-2. He then found the back of the net with 2:10 remaining in regulation to tie the game at 3-3.

Celebrini leads the entire country with eight goals and is first among all NCAA rookies and all Hockey East skaters, regardless of class, with 11 points. Saturday was the 17-year-old's third multi-goal game and fifth multi-point game in just six appearances this season. Celebrini has also won 53.5 percent of the faceoffs he has taken this year.
