Lachance Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

AMESBURY, Mass. - Freshman Shane Lachance of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Lachance was instrumental in the Terriers' 4-1 win at Merrimack on Friday night, as he scored two goals in the second period to help BU build a 3-0 lead. He also blocked two shots during the weekend sweep. Lachance's two tallies matched his career high, which he set at Notre Dame on Oct. 21 when he potted the first two goals of his collegiate career.
A native of Andover, Mass., Lachance has scored five goals and six assists for 11 points in 16 games this season. Eight of his 11 points have come since the beginning of November, as he has helped BU go 8-2-0 over its last 10 games, including four victories over top-10 opponents.
