BOSTON – Ranked as high as No. 23 nationally by Softball America, the Boston University softball team will remain down south for the Beach Chicken Brawl at Coastal Carolina.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

Ohio, 11-8 (Friday, 10 a.m. and Saturday, 12:30 p.m.)

The Bobcats are 11-8 after posting a 32-23 (20-0 MAC) record last season with a 9-0 (5) win over Michigan State and 10-2 victory against Georgetown.
Ohio most recently went 1-3 at Austin Peay's event on March 1-3 with a 15-2 win over IUPUI and losses to St. Louis and Indiana State (2x) by a combined score of 10-3.
Tori O'Brien is batting a team-high .356 with 10 runs scored, while Emma Hoffner (.353) owns nine RBIs and four doubles. Izzie Wilson (.320) and Yasmine Logan (.281) have totaled three homers apiece and a combined 26 RBIs.
Skipp Miller (6-4, 2.28 ERA) has totaled 37 strikeouts in 61.1 innings, while Mikie Lieving (4-2, 3.15 ERA) has earned 27 strikeouts in 40.0 innings.
Overall, Ohio is batting .283 and holding opponents to .262 with a 27-21 advantage in doubles. Opponents also own 24-10 advantage in stolen bases.
Teams are meeting for the first time in program history.

George Mason, 7-10 (Friday, 10 a.m. and Saturday, 12:30 p.m.)

The Patriots are 7-10 after going 35-24 (16-10 A10) a year prior with DH split against UMass Lowell (14-4, 3-5), split against Villanova (6-5, 7-10) and 1-0 victory over Lehigh.
Last weekend, GMU went 4-2 with pair of wins over Cornell by 3+ runs apiece and two losses to Stony Brook by a combined three runs. The Patriots also defeated UMBC and Providence.
Rachel Warrnes owns a team-high .370 with two triples, five doubles and 12 RBIs, while Maddy Myers (.302) also has 12 RBIs.
Carly Cooper (3-6, 3.66 ERA) owns 30 strikeouts in 49.2 innings, while Kylie Wilkerson (2-1, 2.18 ERA) and Harlowe Nigh (1-2, 2.49 ERA) have combined for 24 strikeouts in 45.1 innings.
Overall, GMU is batting .265 and holding opponents to .282 with a 32-20 advantage in stolen bases and 17-13 edge in doubles. Opponents have nearly tripled the Patriots in homers, 11-4.
BU is 4-0 all-time, last earning a 6-0 victory in 2020 in Florida.

Coastal Carolina, 13-6 (Sunday, 12 p.m. and Tuesday, 6 p.m.)

The Chanticleers are 13-6 after going 36-20 (11-13 Sun Belt) last season with 5-1 victory over Michigan State and 5-4 win against Syracuse alongside a 10-0 win over Bucknell.
CCU most recently earned a 7-0 win at UNC Wilmington on Wednesday after posting a 5-1 record at home last weekend with 1-0 win over Yale and 2-1 mark against Oakland (2-1, 3-6, 10-2).
Riley Zana is batting a team-high .352 and is tied for second with Delaney Keith (.328) at 10 RBIs. Iyanla De Jesus (.275) has totaled five homers and 18 RBIs so far.
Raelee Brabham (9-2, 1.11 ERA) has posted 60 strikeouts in 63.0 innings with Nicolette Picone (2-4, 2.67 ERA) earning 26 strikeouts in 36.2 innings.
Overall, CCU is hitting .265 and holding opponents to .221 with a 17-4 advantage in homers and 25-9 lead in stolen bases.
BU is 1-1 all-time with a 6-0 loss at CCU in 2019 following a 7-1 win in 2012 in Florida.

UP NEXT

BU will wrap up the Spring Break trip at the University of South Carolina's Garnet & Black Invitational on March 14-17.
