Softball Continues Homestand With Lehigh in Patriot League Weekend Series

BOSTON – Riding a 17-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will next host Patriot League rival Lehigh in a weekend series that has undergone a schedule change due to weather. The Terriers and Mountain Hawks will now compete in a single game on Saturday at 2 p.m. and then face off in the doubleheader on Sunday with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
Since joining the conference in the summer of 2013, BU has won eight tournament titles, including the last three, with Lehigh claiming the other three. In 2018, the Terriers snapped the Mountain Hawks' six-year regular season title run and then last spring had their own six-year reign ended by Army before hoisting the tournament trophy at West Point in May.

- BU's 17-game win streak is currently tied-for-fifth nationally with Washington and one game behind Florida State. Texas (27), UCLA (22) and Oklahoma (21) round out the top five.
- The Terriers are 9-0 at home this year to extend their active home win streak to 15 games, which is tied-for-fourth with Florida St. Oklahoma (26), Texas (17) and Wofford (16) are currently ahead.
- Nine Terriers are batting over .300 with senior Brooke Deppiesse (.395) and freshman Irys Kline (.378) combining for 51 RBIs and 61 runs scored alongside 36 walks and 15 hit-by-pitches to earn on-base percentages above .490.
- Junior Kylie Doherty (.359) ranks 12th nationally with a program single-season record-tying 14 homers. She also ranks 13th at 46 RBIs, nine shy of tying the program record and 10 away from the current PL record.
- Junior Sophie Naivar (.419) was named to NCAA Softball's Lineup of the Week after hitting 7-for-11 over five games with seven walks.
- All-time BU wins leader Kasey Ricard (16-5, 3.31 ERA) has totaled 132 strikeouts over 127.0 innings of work with eight solo shutouts in 23 starts. She is four wins away from tying the PL record.
- Fellow senior Haley Ganino (6-1, 3.21 ERA) has recorded 19 strikeouts in 48.0 innings, while sophomore Danika Nell (2-3, 6.92 ERA) has recorded 26 strikeuts in 30.1 innings.
- As a team, BU is batting .334 and holding opponents to .263 with a 86-61 advantage in extra-base hits.
- Lehigh started conference play at home last weekend with three losses to Colgate by a combined four runs. The Raiders won the first contest, 10-9, in nine innings and lastly claimed a 7-5 10-inning victory.
- Coming off Wednesday's 4-3 home win against Drexel, the Mountain Hawks own notable non-conference victories against Stony Brook (15-6, 5-2), Binghamton (7-5, 11-3), Toledo (11-3, 5-4) and UMBC (14-2) with close losses to NC State (3-2) and Elon (7-6).
- Kelly Fricker leads the offense batting an impressive .458 with 11 doubles, three triples, three homers, 28 RBIs and 30 runs scored, while Peyton Sward is batting .404 with 21 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
- Five Mountain Hawks have made at least two starts in the circle. Making a team-high 11 starts, Madison Finnerty (4-7, 5.88 ERA) has earned 48 strikeouts in 50.0 innings of work, while Addison Moorman (6-4, 3.31 ERA) has totaled 43 strikeouts in 67.2 innings.
- Lehigh is batting .311 on the season and holding teams to .296 with opponents owning a 26-15 advantage in homers and the Mountain Hawks leading in doubles (52-44) and triples (6-3).
- BU leads the all-time series, 30-19, after opening the 2025 PL tournament with a 1-0 victory.
- Last year during regular season play, BU went 1-2 at Lehigh with the Mountain Hawks pulling out both 3-2 and 13-10 victories and the Terriers earning a 5-3 win.
- Back in 2024, the Terriers won all four games by a combined five runs to improve to 17-7 all-time at home.
- Two of those contests went extra innings with BU first pulling out a 2-1 (11) win and then later edging the Mountain Hawks in eight innings, 1-0, for the PL tournament title.
