
Softball to Open Home Schedule with Quinnipiac in Tuesday Afternoon Doubleheader

BOSTON – After starting the season with 22 games outside Massachusetts, the Boston University softball team will open the home schedule against Quinnipiac in a doubleheader set for Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
The games were originally scheduled for Wednesday (March 11) but were pushed up a day to avoid potential weather conditions.
Both programs will face off with plenty of confidence after the Terriers went a combined 4-0 against Yale and New Haven over the weekend and the Bobcats started MAAC play with a sweep at Saint Peter's.

- Freshman Irys Kline is batting a team-high .364 with six doubles and 14 RBIs alongside 12 walks for a .481 on-base percentage, while senior Brooke Deppiesse (.347) owns a team-high 19 runs scored with two doubles, two triples and two homers for 15 RBIs.
- Junior Kylie Doherty (.279) has delivered eight homers and a team-high 23 RBIs with senior Megan Coyle (.310) in second at 16 RBIs.
- Named PL Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and 15th overall after posting a 3-0 record in Connecticut, senior Kasey Ricard (9-5, 4.45 ERA) has posted 86 strikeouts in 85.0 innings of work.
- Classmate Haley Ganino (3-1, 4.48 ERA) earned PL Pitcher of the Week back on March 2 after earning a victory against then-No. 23 Duke along with the team's lone save against Northwestern.
- BU went 14-4 at home last season with non-conference DH sweeps against Bryant, Stonehill and Yale along with a DH loss to SEC power Kentucky.
- The Terriers are batting .296 on the season and holding opponents to .292 with a 52-48 edge in extra-base hits. Opponents own a 34-7 advantage in stolen bases.
- After posting a 19-27 record last season with an 14-11 mark in conference play, the Bobcats have earned non-conference wins against Stony Brook (7-2), Hampton (6-2), Saint Francis (14-6) and UC Davis (12-5).
- Sofia Vega leads Quinnipiac hitting .417 with eight RBIs and eight runs scored, while Kennedy Demott is batting .400 with seven walks for a .514 on-base percentage.
- Mary Fogg (.324) and Noelle Reid (.286) have reached home nine times apiece and combined for 10 RBIs.
- In the circle, Shannon Kendall (5-3, 6.41 ERA) has made eight starts with 11 strikeouts in 39.1 innings of work. Laney Adie (2-1, 4.71 ERA) earned the Bobcats' lone shutout against Saint Peter's and has 16 strikeouts in 19.1 innings.
- Quinnipiac is batting .303 as a team and holding opponents to .309 with a 16-9 advantage in stolen bases and opponents claiming a 40-25 lead in extra-base hits.
- The Terriers lead the all-time series, 5-2, that dates back to 2011 with all seven contests taking place in Florida.
- BU won the last matchup, 8-1, in 2017 with a 9-2 advantage in hits, as the Bobcats committed five errors.
- Quinnipiac won in 2011 and in 2015 with an identical 2-1 decision.
- BU will remain home and host both Brown and UMass Lowell over the weekend with all three squads set to face one another two times apiece.
- The Terriers will first face Brown on Saturday (March 14) at 12:45 p.m. and then UMass Lowell at 3 p.m.
