Enos' Two Goals Leads Women Past Northeastern, 2-1
October 13, 1999 | Women's Soccer
Junior Deidre Enos (Milton, MA) scored two goals to lead the Terrier women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Northeastern on Tuesday night (October 12th) in a key America East game. The victory improved B.U.'s overall record to 7-5-0, while the team remained undefeated in league action with a 3-0 record.
Enos, who improved her team-leading goal total to 10 and point total to 23, opened the scoring at the 8:40 mark of the game when she chipped a shot over Northeastern goalie Rachelle Parkinson. Assisting on the goal was sophomore Megan Cross (Pembroke, MA).
The lead was short-lived however as the Huskies tied the game just 29 seconds later when Kate Mercier beat Terrier senior goalie Meghan Lynch (Andover, MA).
That's the way the score remained until there were just 55 seconds left in regulation. At that point, Enos collected a loose ball in front of the Northeastern net and deposited the ball in the left corner of the net for the game-winner.
The Terriers will play next on Friday night (October 15th) when they host the University of Hartford in a battle against the top two teams in the league. In the pre-season poll of the 10 league coaches, Hartford was picked to finish first, while the Terriers were tabbed second. The game will be played at Nickerson Field at 7:00 p.m.
