November 12, 2005 | Women's Ice Hockey
STORRS, CONN. ??? The Boston University women???s ice hockey team dropped a tough 3-0 decision on Saturday, Nov. 12, to the Uconn Huskies at the Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn. Freshman goaltender Allyse Wilcox (Grang Blanc, Mich.) stopped 37 shots to keep the Terriers close, but an empty net goal late in the third period sealed the game.
"Give a lot of credit to [Kaitlyn] Shain," said Head Coach Brian Durocher. "She's one of the best goaltenders in the league."
"If we had gotten a goal it would have changed the complexion of the game, but we weren't able to get one in the net."
The Huskies got their first goal at 16:02 of the second period when Kristen Russell picked up a loose puck in the slot and scored to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Leslie Hurlburt assisted on the play.
UConn made it 2-0 at 10:25 of the third period when Bridget King tipped in a rebound off a shot by Janelle Armitage.
Armitage added an empty net goal at 18:50 of the third period to make the score 3-0.
This was the first time this season the Terriers were shutout.
The Terriers host the University of Vermont Catamounts tomorrow, Sunday Nov. 13, at Walter Brown Arena at 3 p.m.
